Faith Formation Volunteers are Welcome!
It takes a large group of people to run eight classrooms, prepare youth for sacraments, coordinate summer bible school and activities for the young people at Blessed Sacrament. On some occasions it is “All Hands On Deck”! We incorporate fun and hope the youth enjoy their experiences with us. Below is a list of volunteer opportunities we have in the Faith Formation department.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Children (RCIC)
When children are in primary, middle or high school and have not been baptized, they attend formation classes through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Children (RCIC). During this year-long or multiple-year experience, they are prepared for the reception of Baptism, Confirmation and First Eucharist. The celebration of these sacraments happens at the Easter Vigil.
Parents of these students are asked to contact Fr. Gary Luiten at 701-282-3321 or email Gary@bscwf.org
Adult Formation
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
Adults (age 18 or more) who are not baptized are asked to contact Fr. Gary Luiten for a discussion about joining the Catholic Church.
Adults (age 18 or more) who missed Confirmation and/or First Eucharist during their childhood/teenage years are also encouraged to call Fr. Gary Luiten.
Individuals in any of the above situations may be invited to join the formational experience known as the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).
The RCIA meets on Tuesdays during the school year at 7 p.m., in the Library. Watch the Bulletin for details.
Catechumens (those unbaptized) will attend formation classes for at least one year and possibly more years. Catechumens receive Baptism, Confirmation and First Eucharist at the Easter Vigil.
Most Candidates (those seeking Confirmation and/or First Eucharist) attend formation classes for 9 months, with sacraments given at the Easter Vigil. However, depending on previous knowledge of the church and sacraments, some candidates may attend formation classes for shorter periods of time and receive sacraments at other times of the year.
If you have questions about RCIA or wish to join a class, please contact Fr. Gary Luiten at 701-282-3321 or email Gary@bscwf.org
